The 1839 Nicholas I rouble was struck from silver sourced primarily from the Ural Mountains, a supply line that fueled Russia's currency for decades. That metal, rich in purity, helped stabilize the empire's coinage amid economic pressures.

On the obverse, you'll find a detailed bust of Nicholas I, his stern profile capturing the autocrat's unyielding gaze. The reverse shows the imperial double-headed eagle, its shield and scepter etched with precision that reflects the mint's craftsmanship. Variations exist, like minor die differences, but records from that era are spotty—much was lost in the 1838 St. Petersburg fire.
