1954 Greece 100 Drachmai

The 1954 100 Drachmai coin was struck to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Greece's liberation from Axis occupation, a straightforward nod to recent history rather than the usual ancient gods.

It features a design by engraver G. S. Stamatopoulos, showing a phoenix rising from flames on the reverse, symbolizing rebirth after the war. The obverse bears the Greek coat of arms. Made from 0.835 fine silver, it weighs 25 grams and measures 34 millimeters across, typical for the era's larger denominations.
