Chile 50 Pesos

I'm not entirely sure about the existence of a silver 50 Pesos coin from Chile between 1925 and 1932. From my three decades handling Latin American currency, I know Chile minted various silver coins in that era, like the 1 and 5 Pesos pieces, often with designs reflecting national symbols such as the condor or coat of arms. The 50 Pesos denomination, however, is typically linked to gold issues from the same period, part of efforts to stabilize the economy after World War I. It's possible a silver variant was struck as a trial or limited run, but I've never encountered one in collections or auctions. Mintage figures for potential silver examples remain unclear, as records from Chilean mints can be spotty. If it does exist, it might show up as an anomaly among the standard gold coins, which were about 21.5 mm in diameter and featured intricate edge reeding. All in all, I'd advise treating claims of a silver version with caution until solid evidence surfaces.
