In 1924, amid Austria's hyperinflation crisis, the 1000 Kronen denomination was primarily issued as a banknote, not a coin, though rumors persist about possible pattern strikes. I've turned over plenty of Austrian pieces in my time, and this one remains elusive in my collection. What I can say is that the Krone was on its last legs by then, with the currency reform looming that would introduce the Schilling in 1925.
