The Centenario's reverse features a detailed engraving of the Winged Victory statue from Mexico City's Independence Monument, a direct nod to the 1910 centennial celebrations that the coin commemorates.

This gold coin, denominated at 50 pesos, was struck intermittently from 1921 to 1947 at the Mexico City mint. Early issues used high-purity gold, often from domestic sources, though exact alloy details shifted later. Designs remained consistent, with the obverse bearing the Mexican coat of arms. Mintage records for some years are incomplete, lost in bureaucratic reshuffles of the era.
