50 Pesos Gold Centenario

The 1921 Mexican 50 Pesos gold coin, known as the Centenario, contains precisely 1.2057 troy ounces of pure gold, a standard that influenced international bullion markets for decades.

That exact weight came from using .900 fine gold planchets, often sourced from recycled materials during Mexico's post-revolution economy. Mintage figures vary by year; for instance, 1921 saw around 200,000 pieces, but records for later dates are spotty due to wartime disruptions. The obverse shows the Winged Victory, a design by Italian artist Emilio della Torre, while the reverse features the Mexican coat of arms.
