1909 Mexico 2 Centavos

The 1909 2 Centavos coin was minted in Mexico City using a bronze alloy that included copper from local sources, a practical choice during a time of economic strain.

This made it one of the last coins produced before the Revolution disrupted everything. The obverse shows the Mexican eagle perched on a cactus, devouring a serpent, a design rooted in ancient symbolism. On the reverse, you'll find the denomination and date, all in a simple, no-frills style that reflects the era's stability.

Variations exist, but records from that year are spotty due to later conflicts. We know it circulated widely in daily transactions, yet few survived in good condition.
