Morelia's 1824 1 Real was struck on planchets cut from melted Spanish reales, a no-nonsense reuse of colonial leftovers during Mexico's fledgling independence.

That practical approach reflected the mint's limited resources in a provincial town still reeling from the wars. Workers in Morelia hammered out these coins with simple dies showing the Mexican eagle, a symbol of the new republic. The obverse bore the denomination and date, while the reverse featured a capped liberty head—standard for the era, but executed with varying quality.

Exact mintage figures are unknown; records from that period often vanished in local upheavals. What we do know is that these silvers circulated widely in central Mexico, serving as everyday currency amid economic flux.
